Bandcamp to waive all revenue shares again this Friday

Tomorrow, Jun. 5, Bandcamp will be waiving all revenue shares in order to support artists during the COVID-19 pandemic. This means all money paid by the customer will be given directly to the artist and/or label. The event starts at midnight PDT and lasts the next 24 hours.

During the event, now dubbed "Bandcamp Friday," many artists and labels will be releasing special or exclusive merchandise or albums. See the list of artists and labels here.

Additionally, on Jun. 19, Bandcamp announced on Jun. 1 they will be donating 100% of their revenue shares to the civil rights law firm NAACP Legal Defence and Educational Fund.

The music platform saw a large amount of success on Mar. 20 when they first tried waiving all revenue shares, allowing artists to earn a collective $4.3 million. In April, it was announced that Bandcamp would continue to waive revenue shares on the first Friday of every month, and on May 1, artists earned a collective $7.1 million.

On the top of Bandcamp's website is a countdown to the event, something they did not have previously. This event will resume on Jul. 3, but it is not known whether or not it will continue beyond then.
